Review
Steve Scott has just released an updated version of his book Habit Stacking: 127 Small Changes to Improve Your Health, Wealth, and Happiness
The book is based on the premise that if you do a lot of small things over a long time it will have a huge effect on your life. However, remembering to do all those small things can be tricky, so the author shows you exactly how to build a stack of these tiny habits so you once you get started on the stack, you don't need to remember anything.
He goes into the 3 different types of habits:
- Keystone habits – those habits that will make a huge change across multiple areas of your life
- Support habits – tiny habits that helps you get started on larger ones later in the day
- Elephant habits – those huge goals you want to achieve that if you just chip away at you make a little progress towards them every day
There's a full explanation of each of the types, with lots of examples, so you can apply them in your life.
Next you discover how to create a habit, and what goes on behind the scenes from the psychological point of view. Plus, you find out how to set up a habit stack so it works in your life and you're not wasting time between each of the habits.
Where this book really takes off for the people who like to learn by example, like me, is that you get to hear about the author’s morning habit stack and how it’s changed over time.
This is followed by 127 examples of habits, broken down into7 key life areas, with all the tools and resources you need to make them work in your life.
In short, it's an excellent book if you want to get on top of your habits and get productive.
The author is also clearly very passionate about habits and uses them a lot himself, which I think is key for the reader to get results from a nonfiction book.
