FAQs
General
My current site is “good enough.” Why fix it now?
That depends on how you define “good enough”.
Are you confident your website is turning visitors into clients, and growing your business? Do you have the measurable data to back up that feeling? Because if you’re not, or you aren’t even measuring your results, then how do you know it’s doing anything—let alone helping you grow your business?
From Google’s own research we know that people form their opinion about your website (and by extension your entire business) within the first 0.05 seconds, and 94% of that opinion is influenced by the design of your site. If your website is slow to load, doesn’t work on their phone, doesn’t look professional, or they can’t see exactly what they came for in that fraction of a second, you’ll most likely lose them as a potential client. And worse yet, 88% of those visitors won’t return to give you a second chance—still think your website is “good enough”?
If your website isn’t directly persuading visitors to call you, building trust and positioning you as the go-to-expert in your space, then at best it’s doing nothing for you, at worst it’s actually chasing your clients away. You work hard on your business, why wouldn’t you demand the same from your website?
I’m too busy for a website project right now.
If you’ve got an endless stream of clients, no desire to grow your business, and everything’s running smoothly—then until something changes in the market, you don’t need to work on your website.
But if you’re stuck putting out fires, juggling too much, or just too busy with your current workload to even think about it—that’s exactly why you need to do this right now.
Because let’s be honest—if you don’t do something different, nothing is going to change. Feast and famine cycles, losing leads to your competition, and a website that quietly costs you business—it all stays the same until you decide to make the time to fix it.
How much time are you wasting right now trying to make your website work? How many great leads are you losing when they land on a site that doesn’t convert?
The real question is: can you afford not to take the time now to fix what’s keeping you stuck, reacting to everything, instead of driving your business in the direction you want?
We build done-for-you websites with professionally written content that turns visitors into clients. Yes, we’ll need some of your time up front to learn about your business. But it’s a small investment compared to the time and revenue you’re losing now.
I’m not tech savvy—will I be overwhelmed by the process?
Not at all. We guide you through the entire process, in clear, simple business terms—so you always know how each step will support your goals.
We then handle all the technical stuff behind the scenes, so you can stay focused on your business, confident that we are building what you need to help you grow.
Do I have to write all the website content myself?
Nope—not at all—that’s what we’re here for.
We write your website content for you based on research, and strategies proven to convert visitors into clients. That way, you get content that speaks directly to your ideal customers, and motivates them to take action, like contacting you or booking a call.
But we’ll need your input to get it right. We can’t create compelling content without knowing the heart of your business, and we’re not here to guess.
We’ll sit down with you and delve deeply into what you do, who you serve, what your target market wants, and what sets you apart from your competition. We’ll also do our own research into your market to enhance the information. The more detail we have, the better your content will speak to the problems your ideal clients are going through, and show them how you are the solution they’re looking for. So while you won’t be writing any content—you do need to be involved, and share your knowledge, and expertise—so we have the information we need to effectively create the messages that will deliver on your business goals.
Will my new website work on a phone and tablet, as well as desktop?
Absolutely. That is a minimum requirement that every single website should meet now-a-days, given that 96.3% of visitors will be coming to your website via their phone or mobile device. Plus, since July 2024 Google has even stopped indexing sites that aren’t accessible on mobile.
Your site will look excellent and function seamlessly on any sized screen.
In addition, we take things one step further, by coding your site in such a way that it has the least amount of work to do on mobile—since typically a phone, or tablet, has less processing power than a larger computer. This is called a “mobile-first” approach, and the reason we use this technique is because Google prioritizes mobile speed as a top key ranking factor—so your site needs to load fast on mobile devices.
Why can’t you just fix my current website, instead of building a new one?
We get this question a lot—especially from business owners who’ve already invested a lot in their current site. The short answer—it’s usually not worth patching up something that was never built to perform in the first place.
Most websites we’re asked to “fix” were built on platforms that look fine on the surface—but behind the scenes, they’re slow, hard to update, not built for Google (search engine visibility), and frustrating to use on a phone—and with 96.3% of visitors using mobile devices, giving them a poor experience can seriously hurt your ability to get clients.
Even worse, these websites don’t actually convert visitors into leads or customers. And unfortunately these flaws aren’t limited to do-it-yourself/DIY solutions like Wix, SquareSpace, or GoDaddy. Read the FAQ “Can’t I just build the site myself with one of those easy-looking DIY site builders?”
It’s like trying to renovate a house with a crumbling foundation. You could throw more money at it, but you’d still be stuck with the same underlying problems – and spending more in the process.
The latest Google research shows visitors form an opinion about your website (and consequently your business) in just 0.05 of a second—that’s faster than you can blink. If your website hasn’t even loaded by then, you’ve already lost them as a client.
To give you an idea of just how important the speed of your website is—if it takes just 1 extra second to load, it can reduce the amount of clients you get by 7%—that means if you get 100 leads per month, you’re automatically losing 7 potential clients just because your site is too slow.
Starting fresh lets us build something strong, fast, and effective—something that finally works the way you need it to.
That said, we’ll absolutely review your current site to see what’s worth keeping—like any search engine traction or links from other websites that are sending you traffic. If it’s valuable, we’ll carry it over.
But if you are here, and your website is costing you clients and money, then a clean, strategic rebuild is often the fastest and most cost-effective way to turn things around and get results that support your business. Read the FAQ “Isn’t this too expensive for a small business like mine? I’ve seen cheaper options.”
My business is unique. Will this still work for me?
Absolutely. We don’t use generic templates, or copy-and-paste content—this isn’t a one-size-fits-all formula. Every website is custom-built to speak to your unique audience, reflect your distinct brand and support your individual business goals.
Can’t I just build the site myself with one of those easy-looking, DIY site builders?
Sure—you can… But contrary to what those do-it-yourself platforms (like Wix, SquareSpace, etc.) would have you believe, most DIYers take endless hours attempting to build their website, getting frustrated trying to work out how the builder works, and feeling overwhelmed as they have to create all their own content. Sadly, a lot never even reach the end point of having a finished website.
On top of that, if you do ever finish, the website doesn’t speak to your ideal clients because you’re likely not a trained copywriter, the site tends to fail on mobile devices causing your visitors to click away, and this just leaves you stressed, and wondering what you have to do to fix the problem.
We take that weight off your shoulders and deliver a website that functions perfectly on every sized screen, and speaks to your clients in a way that motivates them to take action and call you for an appointment—all without stressing you out and forcing you to learn new skills you’ll only use once.
Business
How will I know my new website is doing its job?
We make sure every website we build is set up to track various things, so you can tell from the numbers how it’s helping you reach your business goals.
It will be tracking things like:
- The amount of traffic your website gets, and where that traffic comes from (including what types of devices they use, like phone, tablet or desktop).
- Where your traffic comes from (social, paid ads, organic search, etc). This way you can see how effective each of your marketing efforts are, so you can stop doing the ones that aren’t working, and increase your efforts and marketing budget on the ones that are bringing in clients.
- The % of visitors that click your “call me” button, or fill out your form, or whatever way you want to be contacted by a potential client.
- How much time your visitors spend on the site, how many pages they interact with and generally how engaged they are with it.
- Your visitor’s demographics, so you get even more insight into exactly who is looking for your services.
- And many more…
You should also notice more enquiries from potential customers coming into your business as more of those leads you send to your website chose to work with you.
We’ll discuss with you at the start what your business goals are, and we’ll ensure your website tracks those specific metrics so you’ll know when your website is doing its job.
Do you work with clients outside of my industry?
Yes. We work with any service-based business.
While industries vary, service-based businesses tend to have similar website needs—like attracting leads, building trust, and converting visitors into clients. We focus on what works across the board.
What if I already have an existing logo & branding?
That’s a great place to start! If you already have a logo and brand assets, we’ll review everything to make sure it aligns with and supports your business, and works well across all places your customers might see it online. A few of the things we look at include:
- Brand Alignment: Does your logo effectively represent your business? Is it simple, clear, and memorable? Does it connect with the target audience you want to reach?
- Image Quality & Readability: Does your logo remain clear and readable at any size and against any background?—whether it’s on your website header, footer, your favicon (the small icon in your browser tab), or on the mobile version of your site. Your logo should be clear and sharp and easy to read everywhere.
- Accessibility and User-Friendliness: Is it easy to see and read, even for site visitors with vision issues?
If your logo meets these criteria, awesome! We’ll move forward and use it as an important part of your website design project.
If we observe there are areas where your logo could be improved—like making it more readable, updating the file type(s), or adjusting colors, text, or elements for better visibility—we’ll let you know and suggest simple, practical updates based on our flexible logo and branding packages.
Our goal is to make sure your brand always looks its best, everywhere your customers see it.
Will my site rank well on Google?
Your website is the core of all your online marketing—it’s your digital home. Everything else, from SEO, and paid advertising, to email, social media, and even offline marketing, drives people back to your site. That’s why it’s essential your website is built to support that process and turn those visitors into clients—which is exactly what we specialize in.
We build your website using technical SEO best practices, like clean code, fast load times, strong messaging, XML sitemaps (to name a few)—all of which support better rankings. While we don’t offer full-scale SEO services, we do include local SEO support (like help with your Google Business profile).
For more advanced SEO, like monthly link-building and in-depth optimization, we’re happy to refer you to trusted SEO partners once your site is live. Most importantly, we ensure your site is structured and built to support SEO success—not sabotage it. The lack of technical SEO is often the biggest issue that causes SEO efforts to fail, so we make sure your site has that piece done correctly.
Financial
Isn’t this too expensive for a small business like mine? I’ve seen cheaper options.
At first glance, it might seem that way—until you consider what you’re actually getting. Most low-cost websites just sit there looking pretty, but don’t deliver results. You’re often stuck writing your own content, even though you’re not a marketer or copywriter—and your site ends up costing you more in missed opportunities than you initially saved.
You’re not just buying a website—you’re investing in a solution that’s built to grow your business, and deliver a return on your investment.
We build client-generating sites that speak directly to your ideal clients, guiding them to take action, and turning them into paying customers—so you grow your business.
Will I need to pay extra for hosting or other things?
The hosting fees are included with your monthly maintenance fee, so there will be no surprises there.
The WordPress plugins, builders and themes we use as our regular tech stack are all included in the price of the project. In the event that any extra plugins are required to deliver on the goals you’ve set for your website project, these will be listed separately in the project proposal so you know before we start if there are any licenses you’ll need to pay for each year.
There won’t be any surprise costs appearing once you accept the proposal and start the project.
What are the payment terms and schedules?
Trust & Fit
I’ve been burned by web developers before—how are you different?
We get it. We’ve helped many business owners pick up the pieces after a bad experience—and we take that seriously. That’s why from day one, we guide you with the facts, full transparency, and a business-first mindset.
Here’s what you should know, do, and ask before trusting anyone with your website project—plus how we do things differently:
1. Own your domain name
Your domain (eg DimmickDigital.com) is one of your most valuable business assets. You need to own it—Never let anyone else buy that for you, or they then own your website! Buy your domain from a trusted registrar—we recommend PorkBun.com or NameSilo.com. They include all the extras you need for free (instead of surprise costs), their support is excellent, and they won’t ever hold your domain hostage—unlike others we’ve seen.
2. Don’t trust quick estimates
Anyone sending a proposal without asking in depth questions about your business goals, market & competition is basing their quote on a guess about what you need—and that’s a red flag. Every website should be built to support your specific business goals, not simply to check a box. Read the FAQ “Why do you want to meet with me before you’ll give me an estimate?”
3. You want your website maintained
Many developers disappear after launch, leaving you to manage a website you don’t understand. We don’t. We offer ongoing maintenance packages to keep your site secure, up-to-date, and functioning properly, so you don’t waste your money. Read the FAQs “What if I decide I want to maintain this myself—Can I do that?”, and “How do I know you won’t disappear after launch?”
4. Use hosting that fits your project
You don’t need to have your own hosting—provided you own your domain name, you’re safe. Let your developer pick the right hosting for your specific project requirements. Never go with cheap shared hosting, however tempting the price point is, because it causes issues like having your IP address blocked, your website becoming unreachable or such slow load times you lose clients. Read the FAQ “Will I need to pay extra for hosting or other things?”
5. Results should be measurable
If you can’t measure whether your site is working, it’s just a digital brochure. Ask what business metrics you’ll be able to track, so you know it’s supporting your goals. Read the FAQ “How will I know if my new website is working?”
6. Insist on professional tools
Ask what software / tech stack will be used to build your website. DIY platforms like Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy’s builder, or worse yet AI generated sites, are massive red flags that will get you burned. They limit performance, hurt your credibility, lose you clients, and can even get your domain permanently blacklisted by Google. Professional developers use tools that require coding knowledge, not drag-and-drop templates—so your site is fast, and optimized for mobile. Read the FAQs “Will my new website work on a phone and tablet, as well as desktop?” and “What platform will my website be built on?”
7. If a quote seems too good to be true—it is
Low bids usually underestimate the scope of the project, leading to delays, surprise additional costs, or you getting burned by a half-finished project. As the saying goes “If you think it’s expensive to hire a professional, wait until you hire an amateur”.
8. You need professionally written content
The biggest factor in whether your website turns your visitors into clients is your content (or “copy” as it’s known). The words need to speak directly to your ideal clients and inspire them to take action—or your website will fail to deliver the results you’re after. Most developers expect you to write the content, even though you’re likely not trained in copywriting or psychology—that’s another red flag. Your copy should be researched and written by a professional—so it resonates, persuades, and helps your business grow. Read the FAQ “Do I have to write all the website content myself?”
We’re different because we prioritize real results and long-term client relationships
We ask the right questions, do the necessary research, use professional tools, build bloat-free, fast, mobile-first websites, track results, and stay with you after launch.
No guesswork. No ghosting. No BS.
Why do you want to meet with me before you’ll give me an estimate?
Because guessing what you need is never a good strategy for success (and in fact is almost guaranteed to be a recipe for business disaster). You don’t want your web development team making assumptions about your business goals, market, or competition—you want them to know. Otherwise, your project starts with a broken foundation.
We always start with a discovery phase. It’s where we dig into your business & project goals, assess what’s working (and what isn’t), and research your market, competitors, untapped opportunities, and ideal clients. We also identify what your audience is actually searching for online—so we can position you as the go-to expert, and craft a website that speaks directly to what they care about.
Only after we’ve gathered all that information can we confidently recommend exactly what you need to achieve your goals—and give you an estimate that’s accurate, strategic, and built to deliver the results you want.
Anyone who gives you a quote without this level of insight, is either guessing, setting you up for surprise costs later, or never going to deliver a website that will solve your problem – and you’re left throwing money and time out the window.

Tech & Support
What platform will my website be built on?
It will be built on WordPress (WordPress.org), which as of July 2025 powers 43.4% of websites in existence, which is roughly 532 million sites. This means your website will be stable, grow with you and be on the largest, most diverse platform in the world.
We use the top builder on the market that’s made specifically for developers, called Bricks Builder, because this allows us to have the most control over the code so we can create the fastest, most efficient website possible for you.
How do I know you won’t disappear after launch?
We’ve been in business for over 20 years and every website we build gets enrolled into our maintenance plan, so the site continues to function smoothly, stays secure, & updated, and help our clients achieve their business goals with it.
Long-term relationships are our model—you’ll never be left hanging. I even have systems in place to ensure your websites will be taken care of should something happen to me in the future. All my clients have the email address of the person who will take everything over if the worst happens, so your website will continue to be solid capable hands at all times.
What if I decide I want to maintain this myself—Can I do that?
This is both a yes and a no.
Let’s pretend you’ve just visited a lawyer who has just drawn up your will. Would you ask, “Can I just make any small changes to this in the future, and just add a line or two?” I’m guessing you wouldn’t expect them to say “sure”, because you’d know that you’d most likely end up making your will invalid given your lack of legal knowledge (unless of course you are actually a lawyer yourself… in which case imagine one of your clients asking you that question.)
Yes, you can physically click “update” on each of your website plugins and themes, but realistically what happens when something goes wrong (which isn’t that rare of an occurrence). Would you actually have the technical know-how to fix it?
You’re in the position you’re in at the moment looking for someone to take the tech piece off your hands because you want to focus on growing your business and doing what you do best. Why would you want to go back to wearing multiple hats and taking on maintaining your website again?
We use a very specific set of tools that are only usable by developers who understand how to code. The reason we do this is because that’s what makes your website faster (which Google & visitors love). We have the knowledge to be able to “remove the bloat” as it’s known, so your website doesn’t run unnecessary processes that make it slow to load.
So, unless you’ve got an in-depth, up to date knowledge of CSS, WordPress and the builders & plugins we use, I do not recommend you even consider maintaining your own website, because you’re more likely to break something than you are to succeed with it.
What happens in the future if I need something changed?
We will be here to change it for you. If it’s a small change – for example, you’ve changed your phone number or address – it is included in your maintenance package and all you have to do is tell us what the change is and we’ll get it done.
If you want a big change – for example, you’ve decided you want to start selling products from your website on top of the services you offer – we’ll need to sit down together and work out the scope of what needs to be done and we’ll give you an estimate for the new additional project and we’ll all move forward together from there.
